Hey ,

With A 6 , you have two pair, and what we call "Aces up"

With K Q, your friend has two pair, and "Kings up". In effect, he has a lower two pair.

The kicker does not intervene here, you win.

Not sure I get your second question. But If you have KK and your friend has QQ....

You both have trips, but KK has the highest trips and wins.

Hope this helps Filip,

This is called a split pot, because you each had the same hand, which was the board in this case.

You need to split the pot in half and play another hand.

Me and my husband were playing Texas Hold'em and the 5 cards that were laid out were a 9, 6, Q, 8, J and they were all diamonds. My two cards were two 8's and my husband had an Ace of hearts and a 4 of hearts. He said we both won because we both had a Flush on the board and that were supposed to leave the pot and start a new game to add on to it. That doesn't make any sense to me. I think I should have won because either way if we both had a flush i still had the highest hand because I had Three of a Kind and he had an Ace and 4 of Hearts. So can ya humor me a little bit please.

Hi there,

Just a quick question. I was reading down the list and saw that your example under "Flush" was J4616. Wouldn't that be impossible considering there is only one 6 in a suit?

Thank you, and God Bless you,

Shea

My group often plays duces and joker wild in 7 card stud. Occassionally we get two five card hands that are ranked equal. Does the highest ranking sixth card win the pot?? We had one hand where the two remaining cards were both duces. Does that beat two remaining cards that are Ace & 7 ?? This just about started a fight. Confused.

When playing texas holdum, does a A,2,3,4,5 count as a straight or is the A always high.
If you are playing high hand wins and not low ball, does A,2,3,4,5 count as a straight or again is A always high as in 10,J,Q,K,A.

Hey Mark,

You all won.. Remeber this is a game of 5 cards.

You all have the same straight so you split the pot three ways.

It doesn't matter that you have a queen because a hand is made of only 5 cards,

Good luck

oliver...

This a game of 5 cards.

So you can't have 6 in a row.

If you hold Q J, and the board is:

8 -9-10-7-A

you have a Q high straight [ 8 9 10 J Q]

a K high straight draw beats a Q high straight draw but they are always combinations of 5 cards.

Jessie, this is a good question.

KKK33 is stronger than 33KKK

You compare the card ranks of the 3 common cards. In this case King is higher than 3 (for the combinations of three cards).

And...

KKK44 > KKK33

When the 3 cards are the same, we compare the ranks of the two other cards.

Hope this helps
